Cardinal Dolan Condemns Scalping of Pope Procession Tickets - The New York Times

If these tickets were distributed by Ticketmaster, they would have magically appeared on their secondary market website, of that there can be no doubt.

Why is it "morally wrong" to resell the tickets to see the Pope, but an example of the "capitalist market at work" when other events are pushed right into the secondary market?

The answer has equal parts hypocrisy and greed. With no commissions to be had, and no residual profits for secondary market makers, the powers that be can pretend that there is some kind of moral imperative to not resell the tickets to see the Pope.

Anyway, what's thirty pieces of silver amongst friends, anyway?
