Takata Says No to Fund for Victims of Defective Airbag - The New York Times:

Takata has set new records for intransigence. This company has caused and denied its role in the deaths of people and its liability in the massive scandal that is the recall of the safety airbags it makes.

In the face of continued resistance to U.S. regulators, this company should be prevented from doing business in this country, and prohibited from employing any bankruptcy protections. Their product is a danger to public safety, and it should not be able to use financial laws to shield its criminal liability.
