This year, all thirty MLB teams and umpires wore camouflage colored caps to honor the U.S. military on Memorial Day. The caps used desert sand colored camouflage, rather than the more stereotypical green jungle camouflage.
I guess it's official now. The U.S. military, at least in the eyes of the whiz bang marketers at MLB, is a desert war machine. Those non-declared wars fought in the middle east deserts, ostensibly to preserve and promote democracy, but more truthfully to assure access to oil and preservation of petro-dictatorships, are now enshrined by Major League Baseball as the true meaning of Memorial Day.
These special edition caps are available for purchase at the MLB website. All credit cards accepted.
It makes me sick to my stomach.
