Niall Ferguson's Deeply Unconvincing Obama Attack - Jeffrey Goldberg - International - The Atlantic

Niall Ferguson's Deeply Unconvincing Obama Attack - Jeffrey Goldberg - International - The Atlantic

You can't fault the United States for acting in their own national interest. There is no use pegging the actions of the USA to the "failure" to prop up Mubarak, or the "cluelessness" of the supposed Israeli assessment of US foreign policy.

It is a refreshing rarity for the United States to act with the wisdom to realize that events cannot be orchestrated from afar. The results may or may not fit neatly into everyone's wishes for events to turn out a particular way.

For any clueless right wing anti-Obama idealogues to criticize Obama and the U.S. for it's behavior during the revolution in Egypt is disingenuous and unfair.

The United States falters when it behaves contrary to this enlightened way.
