“I always forget that Broadway isn’t just in NYC.”
That’s a big problem. Broadway has forgotten that it really is just in NYC, and the industry has yielded its only trump card, its exclusivity.
If “Broadway” is wherever, then NYC and real Broadway is that much less important. It follows that the Broadway audience has plateaued, and the demographic future is quite dismal.
Would you expect any less from an entity that doesn’t give a fig for its own brand, and does not even have a trademark on its own name?
Now, THAT’S marketing.
