I find it refreshing that of the major Broadway theater websites, Playbill.com seems to be the one that most hews to a news reporting function. No message boards at all! No flame wars, no snide or aggressive postings, and no shilling or early preview reviews.
Playbill.com is simply a theater site that showcases and promotes theater news. Whatever mild editorial pieces that find there way onto the site (Smash features) never make you feel dirty after reading them.
That's not to say that other big sites like ATC or BWW aren't great in their own way. They are entertaining and sometimes scoop Playbill.com on news. But they don't do what Playbill does the way Playbill does it.
