A Debate Bigger Than Health Care Reform - NYTimes.com

A Debate Bigger Than Health Care Reform - NYTimes.com

You know, I don't think you can call it a "debate", when one side is off the rails looney tunes. That's an ongoing problem in this country, and it is rarely commented on.

Just because there is a disagreement on policy does not mean a legitimate debate exists or is called for. If one side is irrational, discriminatory, illegal, immoral or unethical, the debate is over. This is often the case when "debating" with radical Conservatives. Those that would make a case for ending reproductive rights for women, deny civic rights to gays, defund education, undermine the nation's economy and the middle class, lose, in any honest debate.
