Typical Republican/Conservative radical reponse to any and all suggestion to enforce stricter safety standards. The Republicons just don't seem to think that any changes are called for in the wake of the BP oil disaster. The unending pursuit of profits, avoidance of taxes, glomming of subsidies and little effort to operate safely are the hallmarks of the oil industry. They have no compunctions at all about despoiling the environment.
This indusrty must be taxed and regulated in a more fair, equitable and sane way. They have proven time and again that they are not to be trusted in the misbegotten notion that they are capable of policing themselves.
