More U.S. Soldiers Killed Themselves Than Died in Combat in 2010 - Culture - GOOD

More U.S. Soldiers Killed Themselves Than Died in Combat in 2010 - Culture - GOOD

The happy-talk about "supporting our troops" is shown to be the lie it really is. The troops are abused by a system of unending deployments. We are told that our "cause is just" in the prosecution of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but those charged with carrying out these policies may be telling us something else with these unconscionably high suicide rates. The troops live a macho lie, and the inhumanity of the warrior culture, is clearly a broken paradigm. Our western troops are forced to spend unending months  living in and complying with a primitive and misogynistic Muslim society. There are no mental health services that are effective within the military culture.

It's very easy to wear a crappy ribbon in support of the troops. It's quite another to demand that their problems are addressed and that their lives are treated as something more than cannon fodder.
